Chief Dr. Andy Elerewe’s professional journey into real estate began from an unusual but highly formative background: journalism.
His early career in journalism, including his work with The Sun newspaper in Abuja, brought him into close contact with Nigeria’s housing and property sector. Reporting on the industry gave him first-hand exposure to developers, professionals, policymakers, investors and the structural challenges affecting housing and urban development in Nigeria.
That experience provided more than professional knowledge. It developed a deep understanding of the relationship between policy, infrastructure, land, investment and the people who ultimately occupy and depend upon the built environment.
Over time, that perspective evolved from reporting on the industry to participating directly in it.
Before establishing AIBEN, Chief Dr. Elerewe held senior management responsibilities within the real estate sector, including serving as Managing Director of Woods & Bricks. These experiences provided the foundation for the entrepreneurial vision that would ultimately become AIBEN Properties.
His transition from journalism into real estate represents an important part of his professional identity: an understanding of the built environment shaped first through observation and analysis, and subsequently through enterprise, development and execution.

He has served as Chairman of the Federal Capital Territory chapter of REDAN and currently serves as National Vice President, North Central Zone.
Through industry leadership, he has advocated for constructive engagement between developers and government and for recognition of the private sector as an important partner in addressing Nigeria’s housing and infrastructure requirements.
His involvement in the sector therefore extends across three interconnected areas:

He studied Management and Accounting at Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile-Ife, before pursuing further executive and postgraduate education.
His academic background includes a Higher Diploma in Business Management from the Metropolitan School of Business and Management in the United Kingdom and an MBA from the University of Chichester, United Kingdom, where he graduated with distinction.
He has also pursued further postgraduate studies in Environmental Management and continues to develop his academic and professional knowledge.
This combination of management, accounting, business, environmental and real estate perspectives informs an approach to development that recognizes the interconnected nature of business performance, responsible development and the wider built environment.
